FLY Play hf. has reported a notable improvement in its financial results for 2024, highlighting the success of its new business model. The airline experienced a significant increase in passenger numbers, with 477,000 individuals flying from Iceland last year, marking a remarkable 17.1% rise compared to the previous year. This surge in demand reflects a growing preference among Icelanders for PLAY services.
The company’s revenues also saw a positive trend, increasing by 4% year-over-year, reaching a total of USD 292 million. A key indicator of operational efficiency, the revenue per available seat kilometer (RASK) for the fourth quarter rose by 17% compared to the same period last year. This improvement can be attributed to higher average ticket prices and an enhanced load factor, indicating that more seats were filled on flights.
Additionally, PLAY has successfully negotiated new commercial terms, further solidifying its position in the competitive airline market. This combination of strategic initiatives and operational enhancements positions PLAY for continued growth in the coming years.
