Shares of Apogee Enterprises (APOG) surged 18.5% following the company's first-quarter fiscal 2026 earnings report, which showed a clear turnaround from a loss a year earlier. The architectural glass and services firm posted sales of $342.68 million, while net income swung to $11.54 million from a net loss of $2.69 million in the same period last year.
The company also reaffirmed its fiscal 2027 net sales outlook, signaling confidence in its long-term strategy. Management highlighted the pending acquisition of Kalwall as a potential growth driver, though they noted the deal's impact will be factored into future projections once completed.
In addition to the earnings rebound, Apogee continued its long-running share repurchase program. The company bought back 275,477 shares in the latest tranche, bringing total buybacks under the current plan to a significant level. Investors responded positively to both the improved financial performance and the commitment to returning capital to shareholders.
The earnings turnaround and reaffirmed outlook suggest that Apogee's operational adjustments are taking hold, even as the broader construction market faces uncertainty. The stock's sharp move higher reflects renewed optimism that the company is on a more stable growth path.
